Thousands flood to FC Barcelona Fan Zone in Seville
Seville has been awash with the blaugrana colours all day in the build-up to the Copa del Rey Final, with 18,000 Barça fans travelling by plane, car or train to the city to make their passion for the club seen and heard. Famous monuments such as La Giralda, La Torre del Aro, Plaza España, and the district of Triana have been flooded with fans enjoying the sun, food, drink and sights as they gear up for the 9.00pm CEST kick-off at the Benito Villamarin.
But the real hub has been the Barça Fan Zone Estrella Damm, just 400 metres south of the Betis stadium, where there has been catering, games and activities to keep everyone more than amused. There’s been graffiti, face-paints, shots on goal, heading contests, street football and much, more to ensure that people of all ages have had plenty to see and do.
And when it comes to people, there was no shortage though. Noe fewer than 12,047 supporters passed by the Fan Zone.
Barça Foundation and FutbolNet
The club’s own foundation was there too, showcasing the famous FutbolNet methodology with a group of beneficiaries of the Save the Children programme during the morning. Club vice president Jordi Cardoner and board member Pau Vilanova were among those watching on.
Barça TV live broadcast
The Fan Zone was the setting for a Barça TV live broadcast that’s been running all day. The six-hour show has included performances by musical acts Gemeliers, Ana Mena and Arnau Griso, plus a variety of guest DJs, and interviews with famous names from Spanish and Catalan showbiz, including India Martínez, Marwan, Arturo Valls, Andrea Duro, Manel Fuentes, Pino Sagliocco and model Juan Betancourt.
Former Barça stars have also been popping by, including the coach of the Barça Legends Albert Ferrer, and fellow Dream Team members Juan Carlos Rodríguez, Jon Andoni Goikoetxea and Hristo Stoichkov, who have been giving interviews and signing autographs for the fans.
But this is just the start of it. Shortly, everyone will start making their way to the Benito Villamarín for the game with Valencia. The day has been wonderful. All that we need now is the right result to round things off nicely.
