FC Barcelona provides all three candidates for UEFA Women's Player of the Year
Three out of three! We don’t know who the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year is going to be, but we do know that it’s going to be someone from FC Barcelona! And that’s because all three of the nominees are from the Champions League winning squad: Alexia Putellas, Lieke Martens and Jenni Hermoso. The winner will be announced on Thursday 26 August as part of the UEFA Champions League draw ceremony.
Aitana Bonmatí and Caroline Graham Hansen finished fifth and sixth in a blaugrana dominated list announced today by UEFA.
And Irene Paredes, who was signed this summer, is in ninth.
Martens has already won this award before in 2017 after helping Holland to victory in the European Championship and just before joining Barça.
