Lewandowski and Haaland meet again
Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland will meet again this Wednesday, this time with the Pole in a Barça shirt and the Norwegian in a Manchester City shirt as the the two clubs meeting in a fund raising game at Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday in support of former blaugrana Juan Carlos Unzué and the battle against ALS. Both players have begun the current season well with Lewandowski having scored three goals for his new club and Haaland four for his new team.
The two strikers have come up against each other on seven occasions, Lewandowski as a Bayern Munich player and Haaland in a Borussia Dortmund shirt. The Polish international has come out on top in all seven games, scoring nine goals to Haaland's five.
Record breaking strikers
The Polish striker and the Norwegian have both set records during their stints in German football in the Bundesliga. The Barça striker set a record in the 2020/21 season, scoring 41 goals in 29 matches. Lewandowski managed to score 43 goals in a calendar year, breaking two records formerly held by legendary striker Gerd Müller.
With Borussia Dortmund, Haaland averaged a goal every 87 minutes and also became the youngest player ever to reach 20 goals in the Champions League. Lewandowski, in Germany, became the youngest player to reach 100 goals.
The two number 9s are in form in the current campaign with Lewandowski having scored in the Gamper against Pumas and nabbing two in the win at Real Sociedad. Haaland has also started well at his new club under Pep Guardiola, scoring four goals already.
