Pedri: 'There's still a tiny bit of hope in the Champions League'

Barça take on Bayern Munich in what may or may not be a lost cause at Spotify Camp Nou. Pedri discussed the game and the situation at the club in general in an interview with Marca. We pick out some of the best bits.

Hope in Europe

"We weren't expecting this to happen in the Champions League. But what happened has happened and it's a shame. But we still have a tiny bit of hope depending on the result between Viktoria Plzen and Inter Milan."

"We'll have to wait and see what happens but we know it's difficult. But as long there's a chance, we have to believe. We need to get lucky and be ready for it if we do."

Xavi and youngsters

"Whenever there are bad results, everyone comes in for criticism. I don't think managing FC Barcelona is an easy job, but I think he's doing very well."

"He helps the young players with a lot of advice. I hope he sticks with us and we go on to do big things and win trophies."

Playing with Lewandowski

"It is easy to develop an understanding with the best players. Robert has been great to me since the day he arrived. He tells me and Gavi what to do, how to pass the ball into space, where he will be and we need to be, how he'll draw the centre backs away and how he'll be there for us to score... It helps a lot to have a player like that."

Looking ahead

"We may have lost in the Champions League and Clásico, but I think Barça are still in contention to win this league. There's a long way to go."

"I already won the Copa del Rey, a fine memory, and I'd like to win it again. I am convinced that as long as we can keep up these good performances, then success will come. We need to keep working hard."

World Cup

"I hope we do well in Qatar. I hope I get the chance to go. Why not dream of winning the World Cup?"

"Since the European Championship, we have been improving as a team. Everyone is saying that Brazil and Argentina are the favourites, and I'm happier not to go there as one of the favourites. People didn't fancy us much at the Euros and we ended up doing very well."
