FC Barcelona 9-1 Alavés: Women still unstoppable

No matter what they have in front of them the Barça women’s team brush them aside. Today’s game with Alavés was no exception and they scored nine goals in their first ever meeting with the team from Vitoria.

But they had to play catch-up today, as Jordan Clark put the Basques ahead from an early set piece- It was the first goal Barça have leaked all season.

After the woodwork got in the way of the best chance to get back in the game, Bruna, Martens and Crnogorcevic finally turned the game around. Barça led at half-time, but only just.

Mariona, Hansen and Melanie soon got things sorted after the restart as Barça quickly made it to six goals. They entered hyperdrive, and before the game was up Pina, Jana Fernández and Oshoala had all netted too.

So, the 100 per cent record in La Liga remains intact as Barça now look forward to their first Champions League fixture against Arsenal on Tuesday.
